Offering virtual sessions. Request an Appointment Populations Served Adults Families Teens Children Specialty Areas Faith & Spirituality Coping Skills Parenting Behavioral Issues Life Transitions Therapeutic Biography I believe every person is born with purpose, potential, and value, and I view mental health as 'brain health.' Just as we seek out physical help for aches and pains, sometimes we need the help of others for our thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. Our experiences in this life are both beautiful and complicated. As we navigate through this life, many of us wear many hats and play many roles throughout the journey, experiencing ever-changing thoughts and emotions that influence our behavior. The cycle can be interconnected and internally reinforced in ways that are both good and bad. There may be times when we feel stuck in a negative cycle, overwhelmed, or numb, and where help is warranted to explore the multifaceted dimensions of your personal experience. My approach to individual therapy is person-centered and integrative, with sessions catered to every individual's or family's needs. I hope you will find the sessions to be a nonjudgmental, inviting space for you to freely explore yourself as you process your relationships, experiences, and emotions in a way that provides a meaningful impact on your life. My goal is to support you through every step of your growth journey. The space is yours and a place where I hope you will feel understood and valued. I work best with adults who are eager to deepen their self-awareness, embrace change, and pursue personal growth through the therapeutic process. I also work best with individuals who have identified a block, need change, or are struggling with communication or connection. Together, we will navigate through the process of growth. In regard to children and families, my experience in the schools has shown me that children are loved and cherished members of their families/communities, and that the majority of parents and guardians will fight for what they believe is best for their child/children. There are many reasons for seeking support for children and families and we will examine the underlying causes, explore family dynamics, and take into consideration the stages of child development. For those seeking faith-based counseling, please reach out to see if I would be a good therapeutic match. I hope you will find a welcoming and supportive environment as we explore your experiences through a lens of faith. I look forward to supporting you in your journey toward well-being. Simply Mindful Counseling accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, HAP, Blue Care Network and Medicare. We provide reimbursement paperwork for out-of-network patients. We also utilize a scaled pricing structure to ensure high-quality, affordable care to our privately paying patient. Simply Mindful Counseling provides integrative and holistic health care services to adults, teens, children and couples in Plymouth, MI and Bloomfield, MI. Payment Options Made Simple In-Network Insurance Most providers at Simply Mindful Counseling are in-network with the following insurances: Aetna Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) - PPO Blue Cross Blue Shield - Out-of-State Plans Billed Through BCBSM Blue Cross Blue Shield Medicare BCBS Federal Employee Program Blue Care Network (select clinicians) HAP (Health Alliance Plan of Michigan) Priority Health Medicare Part B This means that Simply Mindful Counseling is able to submit claims and receive payment from these insurers directly for in-network providers who are rendering services covered by insurance. Most insurance plans require some payment from the patient in the form of a deductible or copayment. This amount is unique to your plan. Each insurance plan is unique and it is ultimately the patient’s responsibility to know and understand their insurance benefits including coverage, deductible, coinsurance, and copayments. Our billing department at Simply Mindful Counseling will do their best to investigate your out of pocket costs, however we ask that all patients contact their insurer to determine their unique deductible and copayment obligation. Out of Network Insurance Many factors impact the cost of out-of-network treatment. Simply Mindful Counseling will provide a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) prior to your intake appointment. If neither partner meets the criteria for a medical diagnosis that is significantly impacting the relationship, the relationship counseling services can only be billed as private pay at the clinician's hourly private pay rate (private pay rates at Simply Mindful Counseling range from $150 to $200 per hour). Offering virtual sessions. Request an Appointment Populations Served Children Teens Young Adults Adults Seniors Specialty Areas Play / Art Therapy Anxiety / OCD Faith-Based Counseling Grief / Loss Trauma / EMDR Therapeutic Biography I seek to guide you in recognizing your ability for self-compassion. Along the way, we will explore what may be contributing to where you feel stuck emotionally, mentally or spiritually. We can accomplish this by identifying and working through past experiences that connect to current struggles, and recognizing personal strengths and beliefs that have already helped you along the way. Simply allowing yourself to show up each session is a huge step; I'll join you and help guide from there! Treatment Approaches I often use an eclectic combination of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), ACT (Acceptance And Commitment Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), IFS (Internal Family Systems Model), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy and the Flash Technique in my sessions so that together we can find your confidence in your ability to cope with whatever worries, hurts or stuck points brought you in. As a Christian, I also offer faith-based counseling for those interested. For faith-based counseling I utilize the evidenced based practices mentioned above along with a focus on prayer and addressing spiritual hurts. Parents I provide a warm, fun space where my main goal is for your child, or teen, to feel comfortable being their authentic self as we work towards their therapy goals using creative interventions. Expect to see a combination of play therapy and art therapy interventions tailored each session to meet your child where they are at. I also offer parent sessions so that as your child works individually with me, I can help guide how to continue implementing the skills they learn in therapy at home. One of the biggest impacts to your child’s mental health happens through the interactions you have with them; I would love to empower you to feel more equipped to handle those day to day behaviors and big emotions. EMDR and Flash Technique EMDR therapy and the Flash Technique are effective approaches for treating PTSD and Complex PTSD. These modalities can also be beneficial for treating symptoms of depression, anxiety and grief. These approaches work by using bilateral stimulation and addressing the underlying life experiences that contribute to current mental health symptoms. I offer in-person EMDR therapy and the Flash Technique with multiple BLS (bilateral stimulation) options available for us to use. • Treatment Methods | Simply Mindful Counseling

Evidence-based mental health treatment methods, including Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Dialectical Behavior (DBT), EMDR, Psychodynamic, Humanistic, Integrative, Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) and Internal Family Systems. Simply Mindful Counseling offers therapy for adults, teens, children and couples in Plymouth, MI and Bloomfield Hills, MI. Treatment Methods Evidence Based Treatment Made Simple Psychodynamic Therapy Psychodynamic Therapy is insight-oriented and looks at how the unconscious may influence a person’s thinking and behavior. The goal of treatment is to bring about self-awareness and understanding to help a person understand how unresolved conflicts from the past may be influencing the present, causing a person to replicate unwanted patterns in life. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) focuses on examining relationships between your thoughts, behaviors, and feelings. By exploring your thought patterns and belief systems about yourself, as well as self-destructive patterns of behavior and how they impact your feelings, mood, and general sense of wellbeing, you will learn how to regain control of your life. Research has proven CBT to be an effective treatment for anxiety disorders, mood disorders, eating disorders, and sleep disorders. Studies have shown that CBT actually changes brain activity suggesting that the brain actually improves its functioning as a result of this form of treatment. CBT is a solution focused, interactive treatment, that involves homework and practice outside of the psychotherapy session. It’s an intensive form of treatment that creates lasting change. Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) is designed to help people who experience chronic recurrent depression. MBCT is a combination of cognitive therapy and meditative practices and attitudes that encourage mindfulness, presentness, and awareness. This treatment focuses on becoming fully acquainted with and immersed in understanding your feelings and learning to develop a new relationship with them. You will become more aware of your emotions and what triggers them. You will learn how to accept them as feelings without attaching to them or reacting to them. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is heavily based on CBT principles but emphasizes validation or acceptance of uncomfortable thoughts, feelings, and behaviors instead of resisting and fighting with them. By understanding and accepting troubling thoughts, emotions, and patterns of behavior that have become a part of your life, change no longer feels impossible. This treatment emphasizes individual strengths, teaches acceptance, coping, self-kindness, and self-care. Research has proven DBT to be an effective treatment for producing significant and lasting change. Humanistic Therapy Humanistic Therapy is an approach that supports treating the whole self. It is self-reflective and concerned with helping people understand and integrate their subjective experiences in a way that supports basic human motives of personal growth, fulfillment, and satisfaction in life. This form of therapy builds on personal strengths, a premise of resiliency, and the belief that all people are essentially good. The focus is on maximizing these innate capacities to overcome hardship, pain, and despair in order to live a more authentic and fulfilling life. EMDR Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders. EMDR therapy helps the brain process distressing memories, and allows healing to resume. The experience is still remembered, but the stress response is resolved. Internal Family Systems Internal Family Systems (IFS) uses Family Systems theory—the idea that individuals cannot be fully understood in isolation from the family unit—to develop techniques and strategies to effectively address issues within a person’s internal community or family. This evidence-based approach assumes each individual possesses a variety of sub-personalities, or “parts,” and attempts to get to know each of these parts better to identify roots of conflict, to learn how to manage internal and external conflicts, and to achieve healing and greater well-being.
