Therapeutic Biography

My approach is client-centered and holistic. I use a strengths-based approach and I wholeheartedly believe that every person has the capacity to grow and change.

I began nurturing that approach when I started my professional career 20 years ago as an athletic trainer with collegiate athletes in a health care setting. My favorite part of that work was talking to people and offering a listening ear. I helped my patients see their training potential, process, treat and rehabilitate their injuries and actualize their goals of returning to sports. I encouraged my patients to go beyond their injury with self exploration and taught them how to build upon their innate strengths.

I held space for the unique and whole person.

As a therapist, those elements remain core to my work in helping individuals and couples understand the struggles that create conflict and learning how to embrace the life they want.

I identify as queer and have been out for more than half of my life. I embrace my identity as a queer cis woman and being open and affirming to clients is important to me.

My personal journey has taught me to be a fierce advocate for people moving through transitions in their life and I am well-versed in navigating complicated social situations, varying family dynamics, and self-discovery.

I work with individual adults, couples, and teens, inclusive of all sexual orientations and gender expression.

I use evidence-based treatment modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness and Humanistic Therapy. I also practice from an Internal Family Systems model and use Gottman methods when working with couples.

If you’re looking for an inclusive, strength-based, calm and patient listener to help you, your teen, or you and your partner, make meaningful and lasting change in your life, I’d be happy to work with you.
