Therapeutic Biography
My journey to Massage Therapy is a testament to my unwavering curiosity and deep-rooted passion for bodywork. As a perpetual student and teacher of yoga for the past decade, the mind-body connection has been a constant source of fascination and inspiration for me. This continuous learning and growth have allowed me to witness and experience the profound power of bringing awareness into the body and the immense relief that can be found through physical release.
I’ve always been interested in learning how we interact and connect with ourselves and the world. Studying communication in my undergraduate program had me contemplating our inner dialogue, the stories we write and create, and how our beliefs influence our actions. That, coupled with my studies and practice in yoga, has allowed me to dive even deeper into this curiosity, guiding me to learn as much as I could about the mind-body connection, specifically how we can heal and overcome trauma by sharpening our awareness of what’s happening within.
This path eventually led me to massage therapy. When I started practicing as a licensed massage therapist, I had finally found a crucial missing puzzle piece. Massage therapy truly is a practice that helps bring awareness into the body. It can be as simple as becoming aware of a specific area of tension that you had otherwise been unaware of, or it can be as profound as experiencing a spontaneous emotional release to an experience the body had unknowingly held on to. Massage therapy is a tool that helps reveal what needs to be felt, allowing us to feel it so, ultimately, we can heal it.
My training encompasses various massage therapy techniques, including Relaxation (Swedish) Massage, Thai Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, and Myofascial Release Therapy. This diverse skill set allows me to tailor each session to your unique needs, ensuring a personalized and practical healing experience.
Relaxation (Swedish) Massage is a full-body therapeutic treatment used to relax muscles, release tension, and improve blood flow. Swedish massage has been shown to improve mental and physical health and reduce pain.
Thai Massage is a traditional massage technique that combines deep tissue pressure, muscle and joint stretching, and gentle manipulation of the body. Research has shown Thai massage to be beneficial for pain relief and supportive for easing symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Trigger Point Massage is used to target and release knots in the muscles. This generally results in an overall sensation of release and relaxation.
Myofascial Release Massage is a technique that uses time rather than force. Myofascial is a network of tissue that spreads throughout your entire body; it connects your muscles, joints, bones, and organs. This therapeutic approach uses gentle and sustained holds that work to access, open, and release tension and trauma held in the body.
I firmly believe in the innate ability of every individual to heal, overcome, and rewrite their stories. It is a profound honor for me to hold space and support those on their healing journey. As a massage therapist, I prioritize creating a nonjudgmental, nurturing space filled with compassion. This is a space where you can show up just as you are and where true healing can occur.
I look forward to supporting your personal journey.
