As a therapist, my goal is to walk alongside you and create a space and relationship that feels affirming, uplifting, and empowering. Although therapy can be difficult at times, my goal is that it always feels safe and supportive. I believe in taking a collaborative approach, meaning that we will work together to explore your past and present, and what you want for your future. I strongly believe in the healing power of the therapeutic relationship. Therapy is incredibly vulnerable, and I do not take the trust you place in me as your therapist lightly. Therefore, I will approach our work together with authenticity and a focus on understanding who you are as a whole person from a compassionate and strengths-based perspective. I am here to meet you where you are at, explore, process, and hold space for you in a way that honors and uplifts you.
My practice is based in trauma-informed care, with an acknowledgement of the vast impact that trauma can have on our mind, body, and behaviors. Due to this understanding, I always prioritize safety, choice, and empowerment. While making space for the impact of trauma, I also aim to hold space for your inherent strength and resilience. I want to recognize, highlight, and honor your whole life story, rather than solely fixating on the worst things that have happened to you. I believe the therapy space is large enough to hold many truths and realities at once, and I strive to achieve that balance. I also aim to see you as an individual existing in a broader context, and recognize that experiences will vary based on individual identities and societal factors. I work to honor each aspect of your identity and experience. I use an integrative practice and draw from a variety of techniques, as I recognize that each individual journey is different. I do not believe in a one size fits all approach, and I want to get to know you and what your needs are, and tailor interventions to meet your unique needs and values in a holistic manner.
My background and training allows me to work with all ages, and I am grateful to all parents who allow me into their children's lives. When working with children, my hope is to allow children the space to heal in a way that honors where they are developmentally. I aim to help children understand their feelings, educate them with age appropriate information, and ultimately aid them in making sense of their story in a way that allows them to move forward into a bright future. My experience with children has also equipped me to work with parents, and I believe that working with parents is a crucial and essential part of supporting children's healing. Whether I work with your child, or you are a parent in need of some extra support, I would be happy to work alongside you.
Healing can be slow, complicated, and non-linear. It is also possible. I look forward to welcoming you into a space where we can allow for messiness and complexity to exist alongside genuineness, humor, joy, and warmth. Together, we can embark on a healing journey that leads to a life that fulfills you.
